Connor's First Swim Meet

Connor joined the Treehouse Athletic Club's swim team.  Last night he had his first swim meet last night and was in three events:  the freestyle, the backstroke, and the freestyle relay.  He placed first in the freestyle.  We're so glad he found something that he really loves doing.  He loves the water no matter the temperature.  Perhaps he is "part fish!"

Spring Piano Recital

Connor recently had his spring piano recital. He played "Hickory Dickery Dock."  He played it perfect!

We are amazed that he never seems to be nervous and does so great in front of a crowd.

His piano teacher, Marci Numbers, will no longer be teaching piano lessons, so we will be starting with a new teacher in June.  Ian is also going to start taking piano lessons this summer.

Puppet Workshop

Today I attended Connor's Puppet Workshop and Show at Draper Elementary. First we made our own puppets and then we saw a puppet show by Coralie Leue of the Utah Puppet Theater. It's always fun to spend one-on-one time with Connor.

Since Connor' birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year, we had his party early. He had 21 friends join him at The Living Planet Aquarium. It was a great party!

Piano Lessons

Connor had his first piano lesson this morning; and he's already practiced today. I hope he's always this excited about it (but I know from personal experience he won't be). We feel very fortunate to have Marci Numbers giving his lessons. She was both his and Ian's preschool teacher and they adore her. The best part about Connor's lessons is that he gets "points" for practicing and after he earns so many points he gets to "shop" in Miss Marci's store. She certainly know how to motivate kids.

First Grade Talent Show

This morning Connor performed in the first grade's Talent Show. He sang two songs, one in Chinese and one in English. He insisted on dressing up in his Sunday best! We were so proud of him. He told everyone his mom said he had "the voice of an angel." And he does! He has such confidence in front of a crowd. We are so proud of him and his singing talents.

Connor has spent the past eight weeks learning how to play basketball through the Jr. Jazz program. His last game is this Saturday. Here are a few pictures from his first season of our favorite player, #19!

Connor's 7th Birthday Party

Because Connor's birthday falls the day before Thanksgiving, we had his party today. It was held at My Gym and as you can see by the photos, a "good time was had by all." It's so hard to believe he is turning seven. He is turning out to be such a kind and caring young man. We are very proud of him and so honored to be his parents!

Principal's Pride Award

Connor was honored today at Draper Elementary with the Principal's Pride Award for "truthworthiness." He is very trustworthy in doing his homework, especially as he is learning Chinese this year. His teacher, Mrs. Smith, nominated him for his honesty in his classroom. We are very proud of Connor!

Unusual Pet Show

Today Kim and I attended Connor's "Unusual Pet Show" in his kindergarten class. The past few weeks the students have been learning about pets. They even had a field trip to an animal hospital. The show included a program with songs and dancing, and each child created their own unusual pet from items at home. Connor did a dragon (from a liter soda bottle, legos, burlap, TV dinner tray, and foam paper). He really loves school and has made some fun new friends. Next up: the Halloween Parade next week. I'm also helping with his class' Halloween party -- a morning filled with 5 and 6 years old hyped on sugar -- can't wait!
