Draper Temple Dedication

Kim and I had the privilege of attending one of the dedication ceremonies for the new Draper Temple on Friday (March 20).  It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for both of us to be there.  It was my first temple dedication.  Kim had previously attended the rededication of the St. George Temple.  This was very special us because we live five minutes from the temple and have been watching it built since the day President Hinckley broke ground.  Kim sang in the dedication choir so he was in the Celestial Room with President Monson and President Uchtdorf.  The choir was beautiful and it was an experience Kim is so grateful he had.  I watched the proceedings via closed circuit television from one of the sealing rooms.  I went with Becca Long (one of our neighbors who was baptized a year ago and recently went through the temple for her own endowments).  I love to feel the spirit in the temple.  I feel close to God there.  And yesterday was no exception.  We left the rest of the world behind while we dedicated another house to the Lord.  We felt honored to be there.  I told Kim that before we know it, we'll be back there with Connor and Ian as they prepare for their missions.  In the meantime, we are so excited to have a temple so close and commit to go often.  It was a day I will never forget!

Anniversary Weekend

Nine years ago today Kim and I were married in the St. George Temple.  I cannot imagine my life without him.  To celebrate we are at Zermatt Resort in Midway.  Our boys love it here we decided to bring them.  We came last night, had dinner and went swimming.  Today we went tubing at Solder Hollow.  Kim and I had a blast but the boys thought it was too scary.  This afternoon we went into Park City, did some shopping and had lunch.  We went swimming again this afternoon and have just returned from having  dinner.  It really has been a perfect weekend!  I am continually reminded how blessed we are as a couple and as a family.

A Relaxing Saturday

I love Saturdays!  It's my favorite day of the week.  Every Saturday morning is the same.  Kim and I try to sleep in, but our human alarm clocks wake us up.  First Connor joins us in bed and then Ian finally wakes up and comes in too.  It really is one of my favorite parts of being a mother -- snuggling on Saturdays.  I take a mental picture because I know the day will come when the boys will grow up and we won't have these kind of moments.  Some days time seems to go so slow and then there are days when we feel like it is passing us by.  It's hard to imagine Connor will start kindergarten in five short months.  We are trying to savor every moment and not wish away each memory we have the privilege to create.  We are going to Zermatt Resort in Midway next weekend for our ninth anniversary (talk about time passing us by).  As unromantic as it sounds, we decided to take the boys with us because they love Zermatt even more than we do.  We are really looking forward to a weekend away together.

Long Weekend

Ian has been sick since Thursday and can't seem to shake his fever. He's a little better today but still has a low-grade fever. We are staying home today and hoping he can get well enough to go to school tomorrow. It's been an exhauting few days -- lack of sleep (for everyone in the house), taking temperatures, pushing fluids, giving Tylenol, lots of snuggling, etc. It's so had to see him when he's not feeling well. He never complains, he just wants to be held. I'm hoping none of us catch whatever he has. Here's hoping for a quiet Sunday and a back-to-normal Monday.

Update: We just got back from spending two hours at KidsCare -- Ian has strep. Looks like Monday will be another quiet day at home comforting the sick and afflicted.

Be My Valentine

It was a great Valentine's Day! The boys got enough "sugar" at their preschool parties so Kim and I opted to get them non-food items. We feel fortunate they are still excited over getting a Barrell of Monkeys and Go Paint. We know those days will be short-lived. We also went to Reagan's birthday party at the Little Gym and the boys have decided it's their new favorite place to play. Afterward we went out for an early dinner. It was a great day to spend with my three Valentines. I could not have asked for anything better!

Draper Temple Open House

After two and a half years of waiting, we were finally able to tour the Draper Temple. We have been taking the boys to the temple site on a regular basis and taking photos ever since the groundbreaking in August 2006. They were so exited to finally be able to see the inside. Connor said his favorite part was the "pool." Ian liked the cookies afterward. It was a wonderful thing to experience as a family. I have the privilege of volunteering as a host this coming week and providing background music. Kim has arranged music for the open house and dedication. We feel very blessed to live only five minutes from the temple. And Connor and Ian can both see it from their bedroom windows. There is something very peaceful and comforting about having the temple in our daily view. It an inspiring reminder of all things eternal.

Winter Fun

The boys had a great time this afternoon making a snow "monster." It turned out quite creative I think. They love to be outside in the snow, especially Connor. Ian prefers warmer weather as you see by his T-shirt and flip flops. The boys were lucky to even get enough snow to make their creature. Not to worry. We are expecting more snow this weekend!
